Who we are?
Since 1997 the Association for Traditional Cheeses of the Savoie (AFTAlp) has been bringing together players in sectors covering 7 Savoie cheeses bearing quality certification (Abondance, Beaufort, Chevrotin, Emmental de Savoie, Reblochon, Tome des Bauges and Tomme de Savoie), which themselves are sectors structured around 7 interprofessional trade unions.
The driving force of a network of experts
Forming a network, to achieve its objectives, the AFTAlp draws on the pooling of its members’ resources as well as on partner organisations comprised of experts.
Shared initiatives to benefit each sector
The AFTAlp is entasked with uniting 7 different Savoie cheese sectors, supporting them in managing their regulatory affairs. It provides skills and expertise in driving shared, cross-sector initiatives focusing on guaranteeing and improving quality, while upholding the specifications concerning PDO and PGI certification. Its usefulness today is underscored as it promotes the interests of Savoie cheeses to local councillors, chambers of agriculture and economic stakeholders.
The AFTAlp also oversees general technical research & development initiatives relating to the cheeses.
It carries out advertising and represents Savoie Cheeses at local, regional and national events.
